Ever wonder how chefs do it? How they can make food that tastes SO great SO quickly? Well, one of the ways to make cooking easier is by having some key pieces of kitchen equipment. I recommend the following:
Good kitchen knives!!!!! This is one area not to skimp in- a good knife will make your cooking life so much easier. Start with a good Chef’s Knife. This knife will do the majority of the cutting in your kitchen and should fit really comfortably in your hand. High-carbon stainless steel is best and the size depends on what you feel comfortable with. When shopping, actually go through cutting motions with the knife to assess comfort. Be prepared to pay $75 and up for a good knife- it is SO worth it in the long run.
Or, you may just need to have your knives sharpened. A great local resource for quality knives and knife sharpening is Terry at www.sharpquick.com.
I also love the Immersion Blender, which is a hand held blending device that allows you to blend the soup in the pot. Talk about easy! Being a creamy soup fanatic, this is one kitchen tool I could not live without. Click on the image to purchase.
A cutting board. I like the ones that have a grip on the bottom so they don’t move around.
