Recommended Kitchen Equipment
This is one area not to skimp in- a good knife will make your cooking life so much easier. Start with a good Chef’s Knife. This knife will do the majority of the cutting in your kitchen and should fit really comfortably in your hand. High-carbon stainless steel is best and the size depends on what you feel comfortable with. When shopping, actually go through cutting motions with the knife to assess comfort. Be prepared to pay $50 and up for a good knife- it is SO worth it in the long run. MY test? Can you cut a sweet potato without killing your wrist or getting frustrated? If not, then your knife isn’t “cutting” it!
If you have good knives that are just dull, have your knives sharpened. Really, there is no better tool to have in your kitchen to make cooking easier and less frustrating than a really good sharp knife.
